Montessori Early Childhood Assistant Course Hybrid (Online & In-Class)

This course consists of seven (7) modules.

Students have access to online content for twelve (12) weeks.

Students receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Course Content includes:

  • An introduction to the Montessori philosophy
  • Video and power point presentations of Montessori theory  
  • Videos that demonstrate early to intermediate Montessori materials (approximately 5 hours per week of self-study)
  • Assignments for self-practice with Montessori materials (approximately 3 hours per week of self-study)
  • Albums for each area of the classroom, giving clear directions on presenting the materials   
  • An understanding of the implementation of the Montessori method
  • Foundation level classroom management skills
  • Daycare and preschool best practices in Montessori pedagogy
  • Coaching and mentoring over zoom review sessions

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Present early to intermediate Montessori materials in all curriculum areas 
  • Prepare children for reading, writing, and math
  • Offer a variety of engaging and stimulating activities to children in the classroom or at home 
  • Integrate Montessori principles that foster calmness, concentration, and self-discipline in the child
  • Recognize various basic areas of child development
  • Understand and respond to children effectively and efficiently
  • Work in child settings
  • Make a difference in the lives of children
  • Lesson and program plan to meet children’s developmental needs
  • Support effective group management while serving individual needs

  • At the Heart of Montessori 1 Core Principles by Clare Healy Walls
  • The book can be purchased at Amazon.ca for approximately $18.55 CAD.

Prerequisite:

  • Students must be at least 16 years of age. 
  • Students must have access to Montessori materials.
